Multi-rated, durable high temperature cables
SAB
North America is proud to offer its SC 500 HDTR heavy
duty silicone
cables for high temperature applications where UV
light and mechanical stress cause other cables to rapidly deteriorate. Heavy
duty, 600V, UL/CSA CE approved for up to 200° C, SAB’s
SC 500 HDTR is halogen free, heavy duty, RoHS compliant with a
tear resistant jacket and a flexible possible alternative to rigid
Teflon cables. Available in unshielded and shielded configurations.
SAB’s SC 500 C HDTR with an overall tinned
copper braid shield is recommended whenever electrical interference
distorts signal transmissions or when EMI emissions need to be
suppressed.
The SC
500 HDTR is recommended for applications in foundries,
steel mills, glass factories, baking equipment, burners, heating
and lighting systems as well as anywhere salt water might be present. The
durability and high temperature range makes this cable ideal for
many applications. For additional mechanical protection and those
tougher applications try SAB’s SC 500 HDTRS with
a galvanized steel wire braid.
SAB North America provides cable solutions that meet, exceed,
and set new standards in the flexible cable market, with unmatched
levels of customer service and an extensive in-stock inventory,
SAB North America offers immediate off-the-shelf delivery on most
of its cables. Specialty cables can be designed, manufactured,
and delivered in just three to four weeks.
SAB is Helping to Clean Up The Planet
SAB is currently providing
flexible cable to one of the leading manufacturers of remote
handling and robotic containment systems. This equipment is used
in the clean-up process for decommissioned nuclear sites such as
the Hanford Nuclear Reservation in Washington State and other sites
around the world. When dealing with these highly radioactive situations
much of the work must be done with robotic long-reach high-payload
manipulators. These robots require the use of very reliable highly
flexible electrical cable for power and data transmission. On a
recent project SAB was able to supply six different constant flex
cables out of stock to meet a critical schedule for a project currently
under way. SAB is proud to be part of this team to provide machines
to keep the Earth safe for future generations!
Q&A
Q. What is the difference between Polyvinylchloride (PVC) versus Polyurethane (PUR) manufactured SAB
Cables?
A. Although both SAB PVC and PUR
cables are extremely oil resistant and flexible,
the PUR cables offered by SAB offer a higher degree
of oil resistance and chemical resistance (see catalog
section L for details). The PUR
cables are much more durable and offer a much higher
degree of abrasion and tear resistance usually required
for more demanding applications. This becomes most
important in applications where the cables come in
contact with constant rubbing, friction or there
is a need for more impact resistance. Many of the
SAB PUR cables are also Halogen Free and have characteristics
that make it suitable for varying temperature ranges,
resistance to solvents and underwater applications.
For more details refer to section L of the SAB catalog.

Success Story
Hurricane Katrina was devastating for New Orleans
and the Mississippi and Alabama Gulf Coast. Not only
was there great damage from hurricane force winds
but also from the storm surge and high water.
During
Katrina, a major manufacturer suffered not only wind
damage but also major flooding. The flooding destroyed
major electrical equipment including the variable
frequency drives and electric motors used for conveyors
and heavy lifting machinery. SAB North America received
an inquiry from one of our National Distributors,
and shortly thereafter, an order for various sizes
of VFD cables to go along with commercial power and
control cables needed to get the plant into partial
operation. The order required quick delivery on one
size of VFD that we did not have enough stock to
supply, but with quick manufacturing turnaround,
the cable was delivered on time. This distributor
used SAB North America exclusively on this project
since they knew they could depend on SAB to “deliver
what they needed, when they needed it." This
is another example of by using SAB, “delivery
is quicker than you think.” |
