Ask our Engineer

There are many different types of Continuous Flex Cables to choose from in Section B of your product catalog.  We have several high flex applications of various lengths and speeds and each one has a different bending radius.

Question:  Is there a quick reference chart of some kind to help me determine which cable would best fit each application?

Answer:  SAB North America has developed a cable selector guide to help make selecting the proper Continuous Flex Cables for your application easier.  There are many different variables, such as the length of the track, the speed at which it travels, the bending radius and the temperature range which are used to help determine which cable would best fit each application.  Simply identify your cable requirements and the cable selection guide will help determine which SAB product would best meet your cable demands.

To get a copy of this selector guide, visit our website. We think you will find that this tool will help you choose the right cables for your application.

SAB Tray Rated – ER Cable Pays Dividends For You And Your Customers

Tray Cables have evolved quite a bit over the last several years.  At one time, Tray Cables were largely used in a Cable Tray System with no movement after the initial installation.  It was also suitable for use as a Direct Burial cable with UV and Sunlight resistant listings. This versatile cable continues to evolve and SAB North America is giving the industry more reason to sit up and take notice.

Everyone in the electrical industry has seen unprecedented costs escalation in all facets of our every day business.  From copper escalation in wire products to the skyrocketing costs of steel associated with conduit products, it’s left us scratching our heads in wonderment.  Are there alternatives?  Yes!  SAB North America offers a solution for your consideration. SAB Sales Manager & HWC Salesman Reconnect After 20 Years

Mark Gilliford, SAB North America’s National Sales Manager, was recently on a business trip to the west coast to visit the Houston Wire & Cable branch in Los Angeles.  During his visit he discovered a business associate he had lost touch with twenty years earlier.

The last time the two had seen each other was in 1985 when Gilliford, while serving as the Distributor Sales Manager for Phoenix Contact, hosted a trip to the company headquarters in Blomberg, Germany.  One of the invited guests had been Colin Mellin, Inside Salesman/Product Specialist for Omega Supply in Concord, California.

Colin, seated in the front row at the far right, was sitting right next to Gilliford.  Twenty years later both gentlemen commented on how little each had changed.

Success Story: SAB Saves the Day With Standard Products

A cement manufacturer was installing a new processing line which required the use of hundreds of feet of cable.  They evaluated the application and determined that it might be difficult to find a standard off the shelf cable capable of withstanding their harsh, dirty environment and still be able to meet all of their other unusual cable requirements.   The cable had to meet each of the following requirements:

  • Continuous flex rated (Class 6 stranding) for cable track
  • UV Resistant - outdoor application in direct sunlight
  • Temperature rating of up to 130º F
  • Tray cable rated since it passed into a building and would be mounted in a cable tray

SAB was able to provide an off the shelf product solution with our TR600 Auto (Catalog page D10).  This cable was perfectly designed to meet all of the application’s stringent requirements.

Our distributor called our local rep and after a few visits to the customer to determine the correct gauge size, conductor count, bending radius, etc… the customer placed an order with our distributor for over $40,000 worth of SAB cables.

For even the toughest cable requirements, SAB can provide the solution – faster than you think!
